Djilba: A Moment in Time is a solo performance by dancer–choreographer Floeur Alder with sculptor–writer Virginia Ward. Created on Menang Noongar Country in south-west Western Australia, the work celebrates Djilba, the Noongar season of transition, emergence and growth.

Inspired by the Rainbow Coast and First Nations stories, it connects playfully and meditatively with nature. The work has been developed with the blessing of Menang Traditional Owners Larry Blight and Aunty Vernice.

In it, Alder expresses the season through dance while Ward contributes poetry reflecting places including Waychinicup, Many Peaks and Porongurup.

First developed during a 2019 residency in Albany, the work also reflects on grief and healing in nature.

Dancer and educator Floeur Alder’s lineage is deeply woven into Australia’s dance history. Her parents, Lucette Aldous AC and Alan Alder, founded the dance program at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, shaping the national dance landscape for more than 40 years.

Floeur continues Lucette’s legacy through Floorebarre.
