Mirramu on tour in Taiwan, 2026

Mirramu Dance Company is heading to Taiwan to attend two festivals, working at both with Dancecology.

At the Human Rights Festival in Taipei the company will present 10 minutes of Flight for Life which is a work about refugees created by Elizabeth in Taiwan in 2018.

Mandy Tutalo and Chen Fu-rong from Dancecology will perform a duet which was presented in Canberra as part of the ECDysis performance in 2025. Other excerpts from ECDysis will be part of the festival repertoire.

At the Ocean festival the dancers will also be joined by Baden Hitchcock (formerly with Bangarra and now living in Taiwan).

Mirramu wishes to thank those who donated to their Pozible campaign.

Moirramu also acknowledges with thanks Regional Arts NSW and artsACT, both for quick response grants to support the tour.

Whilst in Taiwan Elizabeth is presenting three lectures and three workshops and the company is visiting the Tzu Lung house in north Taipei where they will formalise a partnership between Professor Tzu Lung’s creative arts centre (also privately owned) and Mirramu Creative Arts Centre.

Thank you from Elizabeth to our Pozible Campaign supporters

From all of us in the Mirramu Dance Company team travelling to Taiwan this year we say, THANK YOU.

It is hard to find words enough to say how grateful we are to all of you, for supporting our Pozible campaign. It has been amazing to receive your gifts and to know that you support our work in dance and cross-cultural collaboration so strongly. We are excited about our upcoming tour and are busy preparing  for it at the moment. We are looking forward to sharing some of our Mirramu Dance Company repertoire with audiences in Taiwan.

As well as the Mirramu dancers performing in the Ocean International Dance Festival  in Kaohsiung, and later in the Human Rights Festival in Taipei, I will be speaking about my 50+ year long association with the dance community in Taiwan at different events during our time there.

Viv and I, alongside Grace from Dancecology, are also looking forward to leading some Dance-in-Nature workshops where we encourage more and more people to deepen their relationship with the natural world. These will happen in Taipei and at the Weiwuying Performing Arts Centre in Kaohsiung during their Taiwan Dance Memory Map event. And of course we are looking forward to catching up with all our wonderful friends in Taiwan.

We will also be visiting the Tzu Lung Artist’  House, a Taiwanese creative arts centre  with the plan to set up a partnership between that centre and Mirramu Creative Arts Centre.

There are several fruitful outcomes envisaged from this visit to Taiwan many of which we are hoping to share with you in later posts.
