Dr. Elizabeth Cameron Dalman and Hsiao-Yin Peng share their experiences in their Australia-Taiwan cultural exchange as mentor and mentee.
This event features a program of short talks, screenings of dance films created through Taiwan-Australia collaborations, and a special showcase of Peng’s Island Dance Film project, produced across Taiwan.
The evening concludes with a duet performance of The Arrival of Spring Qi, performed by Chen Yi-ching and Chen Fu-rong. This evocative piece draws inspiration from a song of the same name, adapted by singer Zulin Wu from the poetry of renowned Taiwanese poet Wu Sheng.
Elizabeth first visited Taiwan in 1971, forging a profound friendship that has lasted for more than 60 years. (Grace) Hsiao-Yin Peng, inspired by her in 2006, founded Dancecology and has led annual visits to Australia since 2012 to continue learning, collaborating, and connecting with Elizabeth.
