Thinking in Movement led by Christopher Chu and Mei Li

  • Some experience in the Contact Improvisation practice is required.

Using the basic principles of Chi in a phenomenological approach (a form of qualitative research that focuses on the study of an individual’s experiences), this class will start with simple standing and walking.

Establishing an awareness of body, we will explore our ‘being’ in the world and with others. As interaction is gradually developed through listening and suggestion, the workshop will be a pleasant, relaxed and empathic movement improvisation experience.

About the workshop presenters

Born in Hong Kong, Christopher Chu is a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher. He is a founding member and the current Executive Director of Ku & Dancers and a member of the Performing Arts Alliance, Taiwan. Christopher started Contact Improvisation in 1992 when it was first introduced into Taiwan by Ming-shen Ku and has been teaching it for more than 20 years.

Mei Li is the Director at Mei-Kuang Li Creativity Psychology Workstation. She is also an active practitioner and performer of improvisation and  a member of Ku & Dancers. She currently teaches at Dance Forum Taipei Dance Company.
