Dance week 2012

Mirramu took part in Dance on the Edge, a Dance Week event at Belconnen Arts Centre on Sunday 6 May.

The performances represented a range of professional and community dance practice in the ACT and included work by young dancers/choreographers with QL2 backgrounds.. On the program were James Batchelor and Emma Batchelor: Inwonderland; Kelly Benforti and Jamie Winbank: Couch; Becky Fleming and dancers from Kokoloco: Carnaval Samba; Elizabeth Cameron Dalman solo: Heartquake; Hilal Dance Canberra Taking Wing; Mick and Pip Thompson from The Flamenco Centre: choreographed by Tomas Dietz with some last minute changes due to ‘a bizarre gardening accident’; Canberra Dance Theatre’s GOLD over 55s dance group: An Autumn Afternoon choreographed by Jane Ingall and Philip Piggin; Alison Wain (The Lake Dancers) and Elizabeth Cameron Dalman: Dusk; Quake Bellydance choregraphed by Brooke Thomas: Rahla Bil-Sahra.

Performances began in the foyer and moved into the dance studio. The event was a sell-out and patrons were, sadly, turned away. Neil Roach, Director of AUSDANCE led a discussion after the performances. Check out the Canberra Times Review .
